OLD TREATMENTS IN
HAEMANGIOMA:
Oral and Intralesionary Steroids
Steroid has been used in severe haemangiomas with various doses pre-
viously. Treatment period was different. About a third of them did not
respond treatment. Regrowth was a problem in about half of the respon-
ders. These patients were considered as steroid dependent.
Another treatment was steroid injection into the lesion. It was usually
applied to the haemangiomas around the eye but was impossible in huge
and many of the lesions.
There was a red spot in the inguinal region
at birth. Then it became swollen. The one
on the hand showed the same course. A
plastic surgeon, dermatologist and a pedia-
trician had seen the patient. Plastic surgeon
recommended follow-up, the dermatologist
recommended intralesional injection.
