AGE IS CRITICAL FOR TREATMENT
Previously, in this book, we have mentioned that growth was
probable in haemangiomas until one year of age. If the baby is
premature, this probable growth period will be calculated by
adding the period of preterm birth to 12 months. In the growth
period of haemangiomas, some substances are secreted in the
body ‘which make vessels’. The effect of propranolol comes
from here to suppress this substances. The effect of the drug
decreases over one year of age in which this substance is less
and/or not secreted.
The spot near the nose was absent at birth and became
prominent after 2 days and by time it was swollen and
got bigger. They were told by the doctors that it would va-
nish spontaneously by time.
After 4.5 months of treatment with propranolol, the
lesion was disappeared with no further growth.
